Silk is a great all-rounder, with a finish half way between matt and gloss.
It is a popular choice for documents which include a mix of text and images.
Suitable for: paperback books, booklets, brochures, leaflets and posters etc.
Our silk paper has a very slight warm/yellow tone to it, which can soften colours and give a more traditional or muted finish. Some people like this effect, especially for softer palettes, but it can make very bright or cool colours appear slightly warmer.
Matt (ultra smooth) paper is a brighter white stock, so colours tend to appear a little cleaner and more vibrant. With a full background of colour, this option generally gives a crisper result.
In terms of print quality, there’s no issue with either - the main difference is how the base colour of the paper influences the final look. If colour accuracy and vibrancy are your priority, ultra smooth is usually the better choice. If you prefer a slightly warmer, more classic feel, silk may suit you better.
